.Vibrational Sound Therapy (VST) is a singing bowl based sound relaxation therapy technique.
In the VST session you will remain fully clothed, lie face down or face up on a massage table and may be covered by a sheet or blanket. During the 50 minute session (30 minute for kids) metal bowls are purposefully placed on and around the body and activated by striking with a padded felt mallet.
As the bowls are moved through a gentle framwork, the vibration of the tools provide a soothing massage to the client's soft tissues. This is a soothing and gentle technique that helps to relax the mind & body, improve energetic balance and calm the nervous system.
VST can be a profound, yet gentle way to support yourself. While more research is needed to confirm the benefits of sound based relaxation techniques, some studies have found they may be helpful for:
Deep relaxation
Improve sleep patterns & decrease sleep disturbance
Reduced fatigue
Enhancing the immune system
Stimulation of circulation
Lower stress levels
Reduce anxiety
Lessening of depression
Improve focus & clarity
Positive changes for the whole being
Beyond the benefits for specific conditions or diseases, some people enjoy VST because it often produces feels of caring, comfort and connection.
Despite the benefits we feel, VST isn't meant as a replacement for regular medical care. Let your doctor know you're trying VST and be sure to follow any standard treatment plans you have.
This is my daughter who loves to receive sound sessions and sometimes even gives me sound sessions! In this session I combine tuning forks and singing bowls in a shorter 30 minute session to help support her when she wasn't feeling so great.
